[JDEV] example-transport upgraded?

I realize there are far more pressing things to do but by any chance 
did the example-transport get upgraded to 1.4? On the off chance that 
the version that worked with 1.2 would work with 1.4 I tried to 
compile it against the 1.4 code and discovered that a few methods 
have signature changes.  A good learning opportunity but thought I 
could save some time if someone has already done this.
