[JDEV] 1.4RC on Intel vs. Alpha

I just brought up 1.4RC on an Intel box running RedHat 6.1.  My WinJab
client can connect, disconnect, and reconnect without any problem.  On my
Alpha box running Redhat 7.0, I could only connect once.  If I disconnected,
I had to create a new user.  In addition to correcting that problem, I
noticed that the Alpha server was truncating the welcome message at the word
user's.  The Intel box fixes that as well.  I will keep kicking the tires...
