[JDEV] CVS Build Updates

If you are helping to test out the build system I have put some changes into
cvs.  This includes the SSL check (Sorry about that one all) and a very nice
AIX patch.  I will look into the Tru64 issues, but I fear the worse for int
sizes and digesting.  Thanks all, your help in pushing us towards 1.4 final is
very welcome.
