[JDEV] Some questions concerning rosters, subscriptions, etc

Hi,
I am working on a client, using the new 0.8.1 jabber server. Here are some questions:
1. No chat can be performed. Messages sent to a user are received only as stored offline! It doesn't depend on whether 
they are subscribed to each other.
2. What then is the subscription for? Is it important for anything apart from the roster?
3. No deletion of items can be made in the roster. Why? /Having an item with no groups does not delete it. I think this is OK, but how can I delete an item?/
4. Request for a subscription can be received after getting the roster, as a presence. The question is why we have to 
request for presence information by calling the roster?
