Re-posting here the release announcement and a small extract of changes 
and improvements which I consider notable:
     * Improvements to storage plugins (store search API)
     * Reworking of session binding and authentication related code
     * Pluggable fully-evented Stanza Routing API
     * Support for Dialback graceful error handling
     * Initial WS support and utility API
     * Support for BIDI
