Hi Vijayanand,
To answer your questions directly.
1. Yes Mono can run on the Mac. I would recommend you start development on
Mono. I recommend you get hold of Mono Develop (
http://monodevelop.com/Download) and Mono (
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html).
2. You can use Soapbox, but I am not sure if it will run on the Mac. I
recommend you look at one of the *jabberds.
3. You can use agsXmpp. Keep in mind that you need a paid license if you are
not using for a open source (GPL) project.
4. There is no such thing as 'best' .Net language. Determine which you feel
the most comfortable with. As far as agsXmpp goes the samples are C#.
5. Maybe a year to a year and a half. You will need to write the
desktop/whiteboard/voip/video yourself. Mono has libraries that will help
you hit the ground running in this regard.
You should rather look at appropriating one of the other open source
projects - you will get quicker results.
