What I would really like to do is seek out volunteers (e.g., companies,
ISPs) who can reliably run country-specific services associated with
jabber.org -- pt.jabber.org, us.jabber.org, even co.us.jabber.org or
denver.co.us.jabber.org. For each of those services we would have a
bytestreams proxy for file transfer (etc.) and a TURN server for voice
and video relaying. It would also be great for each of those services to
host a locality-specific website with chatrooms and webchat (a la
Speeqe). I think it would be optional for those services to accept end
user accounts.
I think this would be a great initiative to build out jabber.org as an
effort that people all over the world can get involved in.
So:
xmpp.org = rough consensus
jabber.org = running code
