I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason "Jabber" has so much brand
recognition is due to the Jabber.org website and not Jabber Inc. The
Jabber.org website is the number one source people turn to when looking for
XMPP clients, servers, or libraries. Then there are these mailing lists on
the jabber.org domain and the public facing IM service.

Just as we went through the name change JSF -> XSF, would it be a good idea
to consider the domain change jabber.org -> xmpp.org?

By the way, is there any trademark registration on "XMPP"? Who owns it? What
are the licensing terms? Wouldn't want to walk into the same trap. ;-)
