No, I don't remember. :) I do remember discussions about using TLS+SASL
in a new component protocol to supersede XEP-0114, but I don't remember
anyone submitting a formal proposal about that. However, I would love
for someone to submit a proposal. BTW we're going to discuss component
protocol enhancements at the XMPP DevCon in the next few days and I hope
 some consensus will emerge from those discussions among the server
developers in attendance (Jive/Openfire, Process-one/ejabberd, and
Jabber Inc.). I've pointed DevCon participants at the jabberd2 docs and
those will definitely be input to the IRL discussions. Hopefully we can
put the IRL conclusions together with the list discussions to reach
consensus and get this done.
