Please enlighten us with your thoughts on the standards-jig mailinglist.
As far as I can see, you haven't contributed there, yet. Just throwing
around these claims without backing them up does not help to make things
better.

Simply because pubsub isn't widely deployed yet, and they had to ship
with something. Many people have commented on iChat's implementation of
various Jabber protocols, so I won't repeat that here.
