[jdev] applying the jabber2 flash patch?

hi all --
just getting into the jabber and have found this list extremely helpful.
a question to the more experienced  -- how exactly do you apply a patch to
the   jabber server -- specifically: the bundled flash patch to
jabberd2s10.

i've had much success in compiling and adding components using jcr and
other methods, but i'm having trouble grasping the concept of patching the
server.

if anyone can shed light on this for me, it would be immensely helpful.
i've found nothing documented anywhere on how to do this-- probably
becuase it is not a preferred solution.

AH -- to that point -- might the jabber1.4 server be a better choice at
this point for a beginner? -- or is Jabber2 at a stage where it's the
better choice to build on -- opinions?
