You are right Michael that there is this need, and that most jabber
users are techies and geeks.  This topic has come up several times in
the past.  It comes down to the fact that nobody has made the time to
make such a site.  Are you willing to volunteer to make something like
this happen?

There was a site for a time called jabbercentral.org.  I think one of
us still owns the domain name, but there is nothing there now.
