[jdev] External XDB component in java

Is there any eternal xdb component in java for 1.4 family of jabberd?
If not, does anyone have any advice on (1) how to configure such a
component in jabber.xml and (2) what the packet traffic structure is for
xdb set's and get's and if there's anything special that an external
component would be responsible for?
