Perhaps this could've been better explained in the release, but this is
true on a number of levels. It's hard to run into the "buffer exploit du
jour" with a web-based client, since no code is executed on the client
side. And if an issue is found, a single server update takes care of it
- no need to deploy a desktop client patch across your entire network
via SUS/etc. There's also a lot more control available to the admin -
don't want users receiving unscreened files (eg: MSN's funner.exe) over
IM? No problem - take care of it at the server level.
(Sorry if this sounds like a shameless plug - just trying to clarify
things. :) )
