Data gatherer == thing asking the question.  Ie, a component asking you 
to fill out a form.  You might tell it that you want to search, but it 
asks you to fill out the form (ie, gathers data from you)


Data provider == thing filling out the form and submitting it.  You.


The result set is not coming from you, the data provider.  You provided 
the data to search on, and the results come from the gatherer.

Does that make sense?
