Yup exactly what I was suggesting, stuff like:

1) integrated user database for use with, website, forum, and jabber.
2) jabber integrated phpBB (the best forum IMO), so you can send jabber
messages to users and see their online status.
3) online status on the site.
4) easy client selection wizard using php browscap to detect OS etc to
simplify client selection, including easy online account registration etc.

Its not hard, php is pretty easy, miles better than ASP IMO.
