If you decide to package it yourself, please implement somekind of
method of stopping and starting all services related to jabber (check my
package, it drops component specific scripts to /etc/jabberd/component.d
directory) so that when jabberd is restarted all services get restarted.

If you decide not to package jabberd, let me know..
