Most auto-reply clients I know of (non-jabber) handle this the same way.
 Per session for every user only send an auto-reply once (so maybe send 
 a new one if the user goes offline and comes online again and sends a 
 new message). Think about it: why would you even want to send the auto-
 reply twice per session? Or at least let a surthen time go in wich you 
 don't send any autoreplies to messages from a specific user (usefull 
 when you don't have presence). I wonder why those clients don't 
 implement it like this, cause it's the standard way of handeling this 
 problem as far as I know. It will work with any client too, not just 
 jabber clients that implement specific hacks.
