[JDEV] Authentication

Hi all,

I want to authenticate a user using both pop3 and the
local jabber server based on the format of the
username.  

If the user enters "name%host.com", he will be
authenticated using pop3.  If the user inputs "name",
the local server will handle the validation.

Has anyone tried this type of authentication before? 
Any help will be appreciated.
