[JDEV] imbedding in web site

Is there a way to insert code into my web site that would allow a user to click on a link to send me an instant message? Then if I am on-line, an alert would notify me that someone is sending me a message and I would be able to communicate with them in real time. Also, what would I need to download? I am using windows xp home addition.
