[JDEV] Conference messages cut off

I'm not at all familiar with the server source code, but this sounds 
like a big and low-level bug. Might it also have caused other data to be 
blown away in messages? I have also noticed:

* Text being truncated after [properly escaped] XML metacharacters 
like "<" in IMs, conference messages, and delayed status messages
* The entire contents of XHTML <body> elements in messages being lost 
(this happens often enough to make XHTML unusable in conference messages)
* The <url> element of a jabber:x:oob extension element being lost in 
conference messages

I run jabberd 1.4.1 on Solaris. I'd be overjoyed if these problems were 
all now magically fixed, as I have not been able to work around them all.
