Using OOB (Out-Of-Band) transfers, see also

Basically, you transmit an URL. The recipient must be able to 
download from this URL (usually a http, sometimes also a FTP URL). 
Sending is a bit harder, most clients that implement it contain a 
mini-http server. This is just a rough outline, though.

It used to be something for the server only, not sure if you nowadays 
may use it. However, in a correctly designed client, you *never* have 
to use this!
