Pardon me, for barging into the mailling list, it has been well
over a year since I spent any time here though I have lurked a bit.
But, time is short and you may wish to seriously consider the
huge flap that has arisen during the last few days since 
the arrest of Dmitry Skylarov on charges of felony violation
of the Digital Mellenium Copyright Act. See

for a starting point in gathering the facts. Briefly, Dmitry, 
is a 27 year old Russian programmer, married and the father of two 
small children, who is being held incommunicado by the DOJ after 
being arrested by the FBI at DEFCON in Las Vegas.

If any of you are attending the OSCON in San Diego then you may want
to attend a meeting to discuss the issues surrounding Dmitry's case.
For those who might be intrested, I suggest that all those concerned 
with this issue who are in San Diego by Sunday evening can meet at say:
 
8:00 PM in the Lobby
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina
1380 Harbor Island Drive
San Diego, California 92101

This is really a natural place for old friends attending the 
OSCON to meet first anyway. We just hold up a few "FREE DMITRY" 
signs and then self-organize from there. If it is crowd then 
we will find a place to take it. Hotels have plenty of places 
for crowds.
