Kevin,
You can avoid the "undefined reference to `pool_new'" problem by copying the
attached pool.c file into /libxode/src before compiling. That will add the
pool_new label.
This file was provided to me by Gary Baker (thanks Gary!)

but try one of two things..
try the groupchat-transport-1.0.1 release
(http://download.jabber.org/dists/transports)
also, if you've updated from an older version of libxode, you may have a
stale libxode.h file
laying around somewhere.. you should kill that and try it again.. some
symbols changed in the libxode 1.2 version
