One other feature I forgot to mention (which is odd since it was the
initial starting point of the proxy project). The MyForum proxy
allows you to define 'virtual users' associated with a user group.
When someone tries to open a conversation to the virtual user the
proxy checks all the (online) users in the associated user group
and picks the one with the fewest open conversations. From that
point on the proxy transparently redirects all messages from the
querying user to the selected user and modifies messages from the
selected user to the querying user to the selected user so that they
look like they came from the virtual user.

This is essential for the initial application of customer support;
the customer fires up the applet and it auto-generates a username
and password, logs on to Jabber and opens a conversation to the
least-busy support person. This has the benefits of load-balancing
on the support side and simplicity for the customer; they just click
a link and they get a chat box pointing at a support representive.

Of course the ability to set arbitary and undetectable username
mappings from the server console also allows all sorts of practical
jokes ;>

Anyway, is this functionality in or soon to appear in Jabber?
