Hmmm indeed. I'd definitely call 250,000 more than a few thousand. ;)
BTW, is this concurrent users or non-concurrent users?

AFAIK, the Jabber.org server code probably won't scale up that high for
a while. The folks at Jabber.com are working on some code (farming,
etc.) that will scale the server up to and beyond that number of users.
However, that code will be part of their "Jabber Commercial Server" (at
least initially), so you might want to contact them if you really need
that level of scalability.
