Hmmm... a few thousand for me are: 250000 in the first year :)

Hmmm.. We use a Sun e420R (4 * UltraSparc2 at 450MHz , 4GB of RAM) for the
jabber
server, Sun take high I/O loads quite well :)
Someone should try publishing a jabber tests suite...
