[JDEV] urgent:changing password???

Hi all,

        I am working in a Internet-based project. In the project, we are

developing an Instant Messaging client using Jabber Server in Visual
C++.
       In the protocols.jabber.org, documentation for registering a user
as a client for jabber server is given.
       I have implemented it. Now I am able to register new user for
jabber server. It's entry gets added into
       mod_basic_users.xml file where all userids and passwords are
stored.

      But i am facing a problem in changing his password or
unregistering him.
      I have tried many times but i am not able to do it.
      If i give same userid and different password to register query
using set option, jabber server gives error  "username in
      use". If i give both userid and password new, it registers them as
new users. But i just want to change their passwords.
      If anyone knows about it, please help me.
