[JDEV] server-access

I have installed jabber server.
Now i want to subscribe user to that server through my client software.
I have read that there is a file "mod_basic_users.xml " which stores the
addresses of subscribed usres.
So I have to write user & password in that file on server from my client
for subscription, if I am right.

What functionalities do server provide to connect him from client?
