| Python runs on BeOS, but I would guess that the Python client (when it is
| written) will also use Tk. Porting Tk would probably make lots and lots
| of people happy (as well as give you three different
| presumably-working clients, magically) if you want to try that.
For what it's worth, I downloaded PyJabber-0.2, and its test client
works out of the box. Doesn't do much, but it's a start. I may
try to whip up a quick native API client, if only because I need
something to experiment with my server builds. (After managing
to build the server on AIX 4.2, I figure I deserve some fun work.)
A Python client may never be a major contender, as long as the
BeOS CD doesn't install Python, but at worst it's an interesting
prototyping exercise.
As for Tk, Java, Gtk+, etc. -- that's all great, and anyone who is
making progress with those interfaces should certainly keep at it,
but a BeOS team per se should go native and not saddle itself with
Tk's burden or anyone else's.
