[JDEV] Changes from 0.7 to 0.8?

Can someone outline the changes from 0.7 of the protocol to 0.8?  I've
been playing around with cabbar, but it seems that cabbar is still
trying to use version 0.7 of the protocol -- in particular the presence
stuff seems very not working.

What is the basic client that the core team is using to test their stuff
with?  The jnixtest client also seems out-of-date.
