don't mean to seem incredulous, but why?  Unless there are some licensing
issues, I would think that the primary goal of a win32 jabber dll is to run on
a common win32 platform.  After all, it's running under windows- there's a
dependency built in. :)  As long as we can maintain it as open source while
still using proprietary libraries I don't see why we shouldn't exploit the 
"free"
functionality available to us on the windows platform.

There are a whole lot of wins by using MS technologies.  I won't iterate them
here, but I'd like to hear your reasoning.

Here are some things that we could really benefit from:
MS XML parser (msxml.dll)
ADO 2.5 record and stream objects

BTW, should we be holding this conversation on another list? :)
