I guess I heard a different conversation.

I can't see a single good reason to add two words that need explaining into
a product/protocol description.

Compare -
-- "It's like Coke but it is pink"
-- "It's like Coke but it it's kwaffiturm"

One of those you can imagine.

I've just made up a new word that needs explaining. And it brings no
benefit.

A fraction of developers know about XMPP. It we can't sell them on that,
then we don't make our job easier by adding more phrases to the mix that
need explaining.

Please just use XMPP and "powered by XMPP", "built on XMPP". It's going to
make our life so much easier.
