Hi Alexander.
  It's great that you're interested in doing a GSoC project with the
XSF, and we've had successful projects with mcabber in the past.

My first inclination is that this doesn't seem like a full summer's
work to implement (you should expect to put in about 500 hours' work
over the course of the summer). Is there perhaps more that can be done
to extend this idea (Ideally using open standards technologies)? Or
you can tell me I'm wrong and I underestimate the work involved, of
course.
