A few years ago one of our GSoC students cleaned up my old spaghetti
code a bit, so perhaps it is more useful now. I think the code is still
special-purpose, but you might find it helpful. Please ping me off-list
and I'll hook you up with Alexander Gnauck, who is the current keeper of
the code.
