There's some work happening with the XMPP WG at the IETF.  You're more than welcome to join the conversation at <xmpp at ietf.org> around reviving XTLS (essentially Jingle + TLS), the trying-to-not-die Object Encryption "3923bis", or another option we've not yet considered.
