Conveniently, someone's implementing UI for user searches in Empathy as
we speak, so hopefully we can test out our XMPP backend's
implementation.

I've added a quick list of things we'd be interested in testing—based on
a show of virtual hands—to the wiki page. Maybe other client/server
authors could add similar lists to help provide fuel for your proposed
chatroom-based frank exchange of views?
