I have noticed when trying to build a component that unless my contacts are
mutally subscribed then there are issues with messages and sending presence
to one another. Which was very irrating when I was trying to send a directed
presence to a non-subscribed jid and it was dropped at a server (i forgot
which one now). It would only work if there was subscribtion between them.
