My experience is that it's quite hard to organise IRL meetups for
online communities. Especially one as global as ours. Only a small
portion of us would be able to get to such an event in Paris. On the
other hand more local meetups wouldn't work either, because we'd have
about 1 or 2 people at each one :)
It sounds cynical, but there are larger communities than ours (Linux,
etc.) which struggle in exactly the same way.
For myself (and I'm sure others too), I'm already planning to come to
Brussels in February, just a month later. I'm not quite sure I'd be
able to make one in Paris also. If we focus our efforts on FOSDEM and
the summit, then I think we'll end up getting more out of it.
Who volunteers to bring the birthday cake? :)

PS. Do we have/want an advocacy@ mailing list or something? We have so
many mailing lists, why stop now? :)
