[jdev] Database Writing

I have a MySQL DB that I'd like to write a jabber client for. The trick
though is that the contacts would be managed by a query that would poll the
table already there and also, once a chat window is closed, it writes the
history to a table in said DB.

Is there anything close to this already written? If so, can someone give me
a launching point?

Also, I notice there are no jabber server hosting available by anyone. Is
there one I'm overlooking?

Sorry if I sound so green. First time making a serious look at Jabber.
