This list (JDev) exists so that developers can talk about how to build
any kind of code or service using Jabber/XMPP technologies -- not just
servers, but clients, server components, bots, monitoring systems,
syndication services, and anything else people are interested in making.

The JAdmin list is for system admins who just want to deploy a
Jabber/XMPP service (usually for IM) and don't want to write code or
build new kinds of services (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

The Standards list is for developers, architects, and protocol geeks to
discuss changes or extensions to the Jabber/XMPP protocols.

The JUser list is for end users to talk about how to use IM clients that
implement Jabber/XMPP technologies.

Sometimes discussions from one list bleed over onto another list. That's
fine. We're not too obsessive-compulsive about the list definitions. :)

When in doubt, the JDev list is a good place to start.

HTH,

Peter
