[jdev] Extended user profiles for Jabber users

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get my head around the XMPP protocol so please excuse
any newbie syndrome in this email.

I assume that Jabber servers stores a certain amount of information
about the user (such as Buddy list, name of user, etc) on the Jabber
server they are subscribed to. Our application would ideally like to
store some extended preferences (related to our application) on the
Jabber server.

Is it possible to store additional information for a user profile on
Jabber servers? Do I need to extend the server (plugins, etc) to do
this or does a Jabber server allow this by nature?
