Coming from an IRC devel background, I also miss "ping". You can't use
TCP timeouts because they are very very very late. The faster TCP
timeout would be about 20 minutes.
I'm a bit worried about CPU/bandwidth explosión, nevertheless. And
mobile bandwidth, that pay per byte.
