Hello Christian,

People have used Smack to create components. I don't recall all the
pitfalls involved but if you search the jivesoftware.org forums you
should find relevant threads with users relating their experience. On
.org, if you check in the subversion there is also a project, Whack,
which is a framework for XMPP components in Java, it is usable though
currently incomplete.

Can anyone recommend any Java XMPP libraries suitable for writing  
external components.  Smack seems restricted to clients, and I can't  
make heads or tails of JSO.
