If you want to make use of SASL Anonymous for authentication, then yes,
I think so. I haven't tried with other servers though.
There's also an option to use some dedicated user account for
authentication, but that means that authentication data is visible to
anyone by downloading the configuration file thus imposing some security
risks. E.g. a potential attacker could changed the password of this
dedicated account and lock out all other users of MUCkl.
