Actually, I'd say that Jabber is only partly living in the "real"
world. It's not like HTML, where page writers have carte blanche to
ignore all standards since browsers will parse it anyway. In Jabber,
developers need to mostly follow the standards to create something
that works.
Upholding the difference between xmpp:foo at example.org and
xmpp://foo@example.org is a battle that we can win, as long as we as a
community are determined not to let it slip.
