You could write a standalone S2S program, that speaks the component  
protocol, and simply forwards all traffic to it. It shouldn't be too hard  
to hack an existing server to this either.
That's more "multi host, multi server" of course. On the other side of the  
spectrum I'd like to see a component protocol that allows protocol they  
want all traffic to a certain *jid* forwarded to them, rather than just  
the host part of the jid. That way you can make multiple services on a  
single domain.
