[jdev] How are transports made?

I want to start making a Google Talk transport for Jabber this week.

Can someone please give me a URL with information about how a transport 
should behave?

I.e. what conversation must happen when the users tries to register, how 
the component tells Jabber which new google IDs it wants to add to the 
user's roster,
what the user's messages to google will look like, etc.

If this information hasn't been posted on the web yet, is there a book 
that contains it?
