Thanks buddy but if I use the server name as gmail.com <http://gmail.com> it
doesn't seem to solve the problem; the client doesn't connect.

Thanks for your suggestion too Fabio but using SSL with port number set as
5223 also fails. I have not tested it with the code that I wrote that I
wrote but I did check it with Psi Client. The error I get is that

"gmail.com <http://gmail.com> certificate failed the authenticity test.
Reason: Hostname does not match the one the certificate was issued to"

When I saw the certificate it was issued to
talk.google.com<http://talk.google.com>but the certificate expected
was for
gmail.com <http://gmail.com>

Is everybody developing their own jabber client facing problems connecting
to googletalk server??? I am able to connect to ALL other jabber servers
perfectly well......
