Hi,

I propose to offer them an implementation of JEP-0151. We need another
implementation of a virtual presence client done by other people to gain
more experience. This could be an implementation for Linux and
Firefox/Mozilla. A virtual presence client is a Jabber client. This
seems to be an interesting topic for new jabber coders. But it would not
be YAJC, because it is essentially a MUC client with additional VP
features. Virtual presence on Jabber is a new field where a creative
coder can still set standards. On the other hand tests can be done
against a running system. There is already implementation experience and
operation experience in the Jabber community. This enables quick
progress. A second client would be interesting to cross check the
concepts layed out in JEP-0151. A VP client for Linux (and/or MacOS)
would be the first one for non-Windows users. Many people ask for it and
it would be very interesting in order to eliminate platform dependencies
of the specification and the Win32 implemetation, if there are any. 

We would like to make virtual presence a strong argument for Jabber,
because it has the potential to draw users to Jabber. This
implementation would help a lot. It might also draw Google's attention
to virtual presence, because virtual presence fits well to Google's
activities. It would be a cool add on to Google's blogger.com. Virtual
presence is about finding people which you would not find by searching.
It also has a strong connection to social networks. All this fits
roughly into the Google sphere.
